In the pink
13 July, 2021

We are tickled pink. According to the editors of Veranda Magazine, pink rooms are here to stay. They base this on the increasing recognition of women in design, and the full bloom of rose (and rosé)  and the impact the various shades of pink can have on our moods, feelings and behaviours.

The colour pink, for example, is thought to be a calming colour associated with love, kindness, and femininity.

Often regarded as precious and girly, pink has a hard time proving itself as a serious contender when it comes to decorating the home. Times are changing, however, and everything from fashion to fine dining is shifting to a rosier outlook.

No two pinks are the same and different shades of pinks can give off different vibes. Pink can be used as a neutral,  soft pink is a more interesting alternative to beige and can be a nice complement to artwork and other materials.

Pink has a place in (almost) every room – A pretty pink is a great choice for a dressing room. The colour not only makes a nice backdrop for your wardrobe, but it also warms the space. Foyers are great rooms to make a big statement. It’s typically the first room you walk into in the home, and the right pink can make an exciting first impression. However, kitchens are viewed as big investments, and when it’s time for reselling, pink can be tricky.  Here you could bring in pink elements in small ways, including fresh flowers and tableware.

What we wanted to show you, in this post and the “In the Pink” video below, is that adding artwork with pink tones to your home or office can create a very relaxing and classy look.

After 18 years in the IT industry, Doreen decided to surround herself on a daily basis by photography that she loves which led to the establishment of The Cow Artworks in 2004. In March 2006 she opened the gallery in Parkhurst and has thrived in this beautiful space. Her passion for travel affords her the opportunity to take photographs, particularly candid shots of street scenes, graffiti and architecture.
