Beautiful Venice

Venice has also been known as “Queen of the Adriatic”, “City of Water”, “City of Masks” and “the Floating City”.  The capital of northern Italy’s Veneto region is built on more than 100 small islands in a lagoon in the Adriatic Sea. 

This city of canals is famous for its beautiful bridges, gondola rides and carnival celebrations.

The central square, Piazza San Marco, contains St. Mark’s Basilica, which is one of the most beautiful cathedrals in Europe. It houses the relics of St Mark and has beautiful Eastern-influenced style domes.

St Mark’s Square is the place where Venetians go to watch the world go by and listen to live music until late into the night.
